VIRGINIA: Man arrested after finding the body of a woman in a truck near his home

Virginia police arrested a man and charged him with murder after the body of a woman was found in the trunk of a car near his Maine residence.

Paul DeForest of Lubec, Maine, was found at a residence in Warrenton, Virginia, after an investigation, police said Wednesday.

Maine police said they received information Monday that an altercation had occurred at a Lubec home where DeForest, 65, lived with his girlfriend. They discovered the body in the trunk of the car after organizing a search on Tuesday.

The woman will not be identified until the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner can perform an autopsy in the next few days, police said. Police said the woman is believed to be the girlfriend.

Maine police said DeForest would be held by a fugitive from the warrant. It was unclear Wednesday whether DeForest had hired an attorney.
