The Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (Conaie) denounced this Thursday the repressive practices of the Police against protesters in a new day of the national strike, where they demand that President Guillermo Lasso prioritize social demands in the country.

The new case of repression occurred in Quito (capital) in the surroundings of the National Assembly and in the framework of the mobilization of women and young people who ask for peace and guarantees for the right to peaceful protest, at the same time, social organizations denounced that Police used stun guns and tear gas.
Citizens reject the repressive acts ordered by the Government and insist on dialogue processes to seek solutions to the social problems that the country is going through, as well as another alternative to assume the debt with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
For his part, the president of the Conaie, Leonidas Iza, emphasized that the acts of police repression against the demonstrations represent a bad sign for a rapprochement between the Executive and the various indigenous movements of Ecuador.
