According to the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), the new launches were detected in the Sunan area of Pyongyang between 06:45 and 07:03 local time on Saturday (22:45 and 23:03 GMT on Friday).

The South Korean authorities indicated that both missiles traveled a distance of 350 kilometers before falling into the East Sea.

Japan also confirmed the launch and said the missiles fell outside Japan’s economic exclusion zone.

The recent rocket tests by North Korea are interpreted as a response to the deployment of the US aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan on the peninsula.

The country also adopted a law declaring its status as a nuclear-armed country “irreversible.”
