Spain will face Germany, Poland, Russia and Norway in the second phase
Sports Writing, Jan 17 (EFE) .- The Spanish handball team, which on Monday closed the first phase as leader of group E after beating Bosnia Herzegovina 24-28, will meet in the second round of the European Championships between Hungary and Slovakia with teams from Germany, Poland, Russia and Norway.
The Spanish team, winner of the last two editions of the tournament, will start their journey in the second round next Thursday, January 20, with the winner of the match that will face the German and Polish teams on Tuesday and from which the leader will emerge from group D.
In the event of a draw, the first rival for Jordi Ribera's men would be the Polish team, whom Spain already defeated on January 8 by a tight 26-25 in the friendly played in Cuenca.
A day later, on Friday, January 21, the "Hispanics" will face Russia, which concluded the first phase as the first classified in group F.
The next rival of the Spanish team, who will enter the second phase with two points, the maximum possible, in their locker, will be the loser of the duel between Germany and Poland, with whom they will face on Sunday, January 23.
Spain, which will play all its matches in Bratislava, will close its contest in the second phase on Tuesday, January 25, against Norway, second classified in group F.
The top two finishers in the group will qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament that will be played, like the grand final, in Budapest.
