According to the entity, the aircraft belonged to the company Aero Servicios Santos SA and crashed when returning from crossing the Nazca Lines, pre-Columbian geoglyphs located in the desert in the south of the Andean country.

Local authorities reported that among the deceased are five passengers, from the Netherlands and Chile; as well as the pilot and co-pilot, both Peruvians.

"The fact has already been communicated to the Aviation Accident Investigation Commission (CIAA), the competent entity for the attention and investigation of these situations. The General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC) is providing all the facilities in the investigation that already is being carried out in order to find out the causes of this fatal event," the entity said in a statement.

For their part, the National Police and the Peruvian Airports and Commercial Aviation Corporation, together with the Ministry of Transport and Communication, are the authorities in charge of investigating the causes of the incident.

Given the event, the company that owns the plane sent its condolences to the families of the victims, and stressed that the company strictly complies with the safety regulations set forth by the country's Ministry of Transport and Communication.

"We have provided services to the public since 2004 without having presented any incident or accident prior to the unfortunate events that occurred in Nasca," the company asserted.
