“Zelensky has stated that Ukraine is ready to discuss with Russia its withdrawal from NATO and the status of Crimea, but only after military actions cease and Russian troops leave Ukrainian territory,” the Russian legislator wrote on his Telegram account this Sunday (04.17. 2022).

He added that the Ukrainian president expressed himself in the same terms before the negotiations at the end of March in Istanbul (Turkey), when Russian troops were at the gates of kyiv, which led Russia to reduce its military activity in that area. .

Then, Volodin pointed out, “kyiv retracted the commitments it had assumed” and “today proposes the same scenario.”

“The cause is obvious. It wants to buy time and simultaneously asks NATO for military help”, he stressed.

The president of the Duma indicated that the Ukrainian Army has suffered 23,367 fatalities – a figure offered this Friday by the Russian Ministry of Defense – and that some 2,500 troops are besieged in the territory of the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol.

Russia has offered to spare the lives of the Ukrainian military remaining at the plant if they lay down their arms today.

Volodin stressed that if Zelensky cares about the citizens of Ukraine, he must immediately make two decisions.

“First, to withdraw troops from the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, and, second, to establish in a treaty the recognition of Crimea (as Russian territory) and the neutral status of Ukraine, as well as the denazification and demilitarization of the country. It will not be otherwise, ”he stressed.
