“The highest officials of the main NATO countries allow themselves aggressive statements against our country, that is why I order the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff to put the containment forces of the Russian Army in a special service regime”, said.

Putin stressed that the West is taking unfriendly steps towards Russia from the economic point of view.

“I am referring to the illegitimate sanctions well known to all,” he added, referring to the coercive measures imposed on Russia, after the start of the special military operation in Ukraine.

The Strategic Deterrence Forces include the Strategic Offensive Forces (SNA) and the Strategic Defensive Forces (SOS).

Also included are the strategic nuclear forces, which are made up of the Strategic Missile Forces, equipped with intercontinental-range missiles and aviation systems.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Strategic Deterrence Forces are made up of nuclear and non-nuclear weapons, intended to “deter aggression against the Russian Federation and its allies.”

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of the operation after Donetsk and Luhansk requested help to stop Ukrainian aggression.
