Rains and cold front will hit this Sunday in much of the country

For this Sunday, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) forecasts intense punctual rains in the regions of Chiapas, Guerrero, Oaxaca and Veracruz; very strong in areas of Puebla and Tabasco, and strong in areas of Campeche, Mexico City, State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Michoacán, Morelos and Tlaxcala, which will be caused by low pressure channels extended over the west, center, south and southeast of the Mexican Republic, the entry of moisture from both oceans and upper atmospheric instability.

On the other hand, the first cold front of the season that will extend over the northern border of the Mexican territory, the entry of humidity from the Gulf of Mexico and a low pressure channel over the northeast of the country, will cause very strong punctual rains in Nuevo León, Tamaulipas and San Luis Potosí, as well as intervals of showers in Chihuahua, Coahuila and Sonora.

Rainfall could be accompanied by electric shocks, strong winds and possible hailstorms, and cause landslides, increased levels of rivers and streams, overflows and floods in low-lying areas of the mentioned states.

During the morning, minimum temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees Celsius are expected in high areas of Chihuahua, Durango, State of Mexico, Puebla and Tlaxcala.

In contrast, for the afternoon, a warm to hot environment is forecast in most of the Mexican Republic, with maximum temperatures of 40 to 45 degrees Celsius in northeastern Baja California and northwestern Sonora; from 35 to 40 degrees Celsius in Baja California Sur, Campeche, Chiapas, Colima, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Veracruz and Yucatán, and from 30 to 35 degrees Celsius in Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango and Quintana Roo.
