The Guadalajara OpenWTA 1000 tournament, announced this Thursday the players who will compete in the Guadalajara contest, the Estonian Anett Kontaveitnumber three in the world, and the Spanish Paula Badosafourth in the ranking, lead the biggest tennis event in Latin America.
Kontaveit Y Badosa have already played in Mexicoboth competed in the WTA Finals last year; however, the title was taken by the Spanish Garbiñe Muguruzaanother of the tennis players confirmed for the contest to be held from October 17 to 23 at the Pan American Tennis Complex, located in Zapopan, Guadalajara.
Gustavo Santoscoydirector of the Guadalajara Open, declared that he is in negotiations with the Polish Iga Swiatek, number 1 in the world, and that it is possible that in the coming weeks he will receive an invitation through a ‘wild card’.
Among the confirmed tennis players are also: Jessica Pegula, Maria Sakkari, Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, Caroline Garcia, all within the Top 10 worldwide.
For the first time in the history of the WTA A tournament of this category arrives in Latin America. Guadalajara joins the Masters 1000 along with Toronto, Doha, Rome, Cincinnati, Miami, Indian Wells, Beijing and Madrid.
