Man stabbed employee at LA hospital

Los Angeles police were searching Tuesday for a man suspected of stabbing a hospital employee, prompting the closure of the facility.

Police responded to Mission Community Hospital around 6:30 pm Monday after receiving reports of a man with a knife, Officer Annie Hernandez said.

The agent added that agents found a man stabbed to death at the hospital, located in the Panorama City neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley.

Hospital spokesman Craig Garner later identified the victim as a hospital employee and said the attack occurred outside the facility.

“The employee was transferred in stable condition to another facility,” Garner told the Los Angeles Times.

It is not immediately known if the attacker and his victim knew each other or if it was a random attack, Garner said.

Authorities ordered all access to the hospital to be closed for a time while police conducted their search.

The suspect was wearing a black hooded sweater, a black beanie and a black backpack, Hernandez said.
