Lewis Hamilton and his return to Formula 1: “I never said I was going to stop”

The British driver spoke about the end of the season and what is coming for this 2022 season.

British Lewis Hamilton, seven-time Formula One world champion, assured this Friday, on the occasion of the presentation of the new Mercedes W13who never said he was “going to stop”.

“I never, never said I was going to stop. I love doing what I do”, said Hamilton, who admitted that losing the title in Abu Dhabi “was a difficult moment” and that he chose to get away from everything for a while and be with his family.

“It was a moment where I really needed to step back and focus on the present. I had my family around. And finally I got to a point where I decided to come back for another season and work with Toto (Wolff) and George (Russell). said Hamilton, who stated that he loves doing what he does and that “it is a great privilege to work with this great group of people.”

The Briton was pleased to be able to work with the young Russell, who will be his teammate next season after replacing the Finn Valtteri Bottas. “It is positive to have new blood. It’s exciting to see George come in and bring the energy from him. You can already feel it in the team. It’s going to be an exciting season.” he pointed.

The Mercedes-AMG Petronas team has unveiled this Friday the new W13, the car with which it will try to recover the Formula One world title that last season the Dutch Max Verstappen (Red Bull) snatched the British Lewis Hamilton.

Mercedes presents a new pair of drivers, since next to Hamilton will be his compatriot George Russell, who has relieved the Finn Valtteri Bottas, as well as the return of the ‘silver’ and important changes to the chassis and power unit to adapt to the most important modification of the technical regulations. According to the team, the W13 is 98% new.

The team car for 2022 will be called “Mercedes-AMG F1 W13 E Performance”. It is the thirteenth car built by the team’s works team since returning to Formula One in 2010.
