Iranian Leader Accuses the West of Trying to Harm the Government | News

The leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, indicated this Saturday that the enemies are trying to pit the Iranian people against their government and the Islamic establishment, but all has been in vain.

“The hope of the enemies to deal a blow to the country are popular protests,” Khamenei said at a ceremony to mark the 33rd anniversary of the death of the founder of the Islamic Republic, Ruholá Khomeini.

This Saturday the official acts are held for the 33rd anniversary of the death of Imam Khomeini, late leader and founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, June 4, 2022.

The founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini passed away on June 3, 1989, an event that caused much pain and sadness throughout Iran.

The prominent cleric overthrew the US-backed monarchical regime of Shá Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and established the Islamic Republic in 1979 in Iran.

“They hope to turn people against the Islamic establishment, launching psychological warfare, recruiting mercenaries and organizing media campaigns against Iran,” Khamenei said.

“But the calculations of the enemies are wrong, like many previous occasions,” said the religious leader before 150 senior officials of the Persian country and ambassadors at the Khomeini mausoleum in Tehran, in a televised ceremony.

Khamenei stated that “they are trying to turn the people against the Islamic Revolution” and recalled that after the establishment of the religious regime it was prophesied that it would not last more than six months.

However, more than 80 semesters have passed since then and the small tree of the Islamic Republic has already become a tree with a much thicker trunk, he explained.

According to the Iranian leader, one of the enemies’ mistakes is to speculate that the nation can be pitted against the Islamic Republic.

“Today, the Islamic Revolution enjoys more popular support than it did 40 years ago,” Khamenei said.

The massive participation of Iranians in the annual marches to celebrate the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution and the massive funeral of Iranian Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani, killed in a US attack in 2020, “shows the confidence of the people” in the Islamic system.

The religious leader also referred to the seizure of two Greek oil tankers after Greek authorities detained an Iranian tanker carrying oil, according to Tehran on US orders.

“They accuse Iran of stealing. We take our oil. We are not thieves. You are thieves,” said Khamenei.
