A Texas jury ruled Friday that the American conspiracy host Alex Jones will have to compensate the parents of one of the victims of the Sandy Hook school shooting of 2018 with 45.1 million dollars more.

The decision came a day after the same jury ruled that Jones should compensate the parents with $4.1 million in damages.

On this occasion, the presenter of the Infowars conspiracy theory matrix will have to compensate the family with more than 45 million dollars in “punitive damages” – a concept of Anglo-Saxon civil liability that provides for exemplary punishment, not compensation.

With this conviction, the final phase of a defamation case that began in 2018 when the plaintiffs, Scarlett Lewis and Neil Heslin, parents of the victim, sued Jones and his company for claiming the school shooting was “a hoax.”.

Following conviction, Jones admitted the school shooting was “100% real.” He also acknowledged that it was irresponsible of him to claim that the school shooting was faked.

The parents of the victim Jesse Lewis initiated the legal process after Jones spread false information about this massacre, which was claimed the lives of 26 people in Newtown, Connecticut. At the same time, the family experienced harassment from their supporters.

Since his Infowars website was founded in 1999, Jones, who is a radio host, has garnered a large audience.

Among the conspiracy theories he promoted is that the 2001 attacks in New York and Washington were organized by the government. (EuropePress)
