Close to 1,400 flights canceled in the US due to thunderstorms

About 1,400 outgoing flights from the United States were canceled by airlines this Friday due to electrical storms that hit the east coast of the country.

This was reported by various media in the United States, including the chain NBCand added that about 6,300 flights were also delayedaccording to data from the FlightAware tracking service.

This Friday was the second consecutive day of disruptions and cancellations at US airportsdue to the bad weather conditions that hit the country.

The three major airports in the New York City area and Reagan National Airport outside of Washington, recorded the highest number of cancellationsok NBC.

American Airlines suspended around 250 flights, equivalent to 7% of its programming for this Friday. Republic Airways – which operates smaller planes for American Eagle, Delta Connection and United Express – canceled a similar number of flights, about 25%.

Thunderstorms were halting or delaying overnight flights in New York, Boston, Washington, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Denver, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
