For Bella Hadid25, the pressure of beauty stereotypes, her foray into the world of modeling at an early age, as well as the constant comparisons with her older sister -also a model Gigi, 26- caused some mental and eating disorders who forced her to undergo cosmetic surgery when she was just a teenager.

During an interview with the magazine fashion, Bella said she felt “ugly” compared to her sister, so she had a nose job, which she now regrets. “I wish I had kept the nose I had before. I think he would have grown up with her. People think I had my whole face done because of a photo of me as a teenager in which I looked swollen. I’m sure you don’t look the same now as you did when you were 13, right?” the model said, explaining that the nose job is the only cosmetic procedure she has ever had.

“I have never used padding. I want to put an end to that idea. I have no problem admitting it, but padding is not for me. Whoever thinks I’ve lifted my eyes or whatever it’s called…it’s duct tape for the face! It’s the oldest trick in the world.”. The catwalk star had his first brush with fame in 2011 as an occasional star of the reality show “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”of which his mother, Yolanda Hadid58, was the protagonist.

However, starting in 2014, public attention turned to Bella after she signed a contract with IMG Models to parade on catwalks and be the image of advertising campaigns. Behind her work as a model, she affirmed that she struggled every day with her low self-esteem and with the criticism that made her feel insecure constantly: “I have had the impostor syndrome, in which people made me feel that I did not deserve anything that I had People always have something to say, but I have always felt misunderstood by the industry and by the people around me.”

In addition, Bella said that during her early years as a model she had to struggle with the beauty standards that her sister Gigi represented: “I was the ugliest sister. She was the brunette. She wasn’t as amazing as Gigi, or as outgoing. That’s what people said about me. And, unfortunately, when they tell you things so many times, you end up believing it”.

Bella commented to the publication that had to learn to be a “good actress” to disguise a multitude of fears and insecurities Among those she lists “anxiety, depression, body image problems, eating problems, that she hates being touched, that she has intense social anxiety.” He also claimed that in the fashion world made her feel like there was something “wrong” with her when she couldn’t fit into some designers’ sizes and reconsidered that there should be enough support for the models to know that “they are okay”.

After several years in the industry, in the public eye and having acknowledged her insecurities, the model is proud of herself for having continued her work as a model, despite her own personal struggles.
