THE FRUITS
Are some fruits healthier than others?
A. Indeed, some fruits are healthier than others and this is why it is important to eat a variety to obtain the most health benefits. All fruits are good sources of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, but some fruits have higher levels of certain nutrients than others.
For example, berries are a particularly good source of antioxidants. Citrus fruits are a good source of vitamin C. Bananas are a good source of potassium. And avocados are a good source of healthy fats.
Here is a list of some of the healthiest fruits, based on their nutrient content:
Berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, cranberries)
Citrus fruits (oranges, grapefruits, lemons, limes)
Bananas, avocados, apples, pears, peaches, plums, melons, grapes, kiwis, mangoes, pineapples.
I share some tips to make the most of your fruit consumption:
Eat a variety of fruits throughout the day. This will help you get the widest range of nutrients.
Choose fresh fruits whenever possible. Fresh fruits are slightly more nutritious than frozen or canned fruits.
If you eat frozen or canned fruits, choose fruits that are packed in water or juice, rather than syrup.
Eat fruit with the skin on whenever possible. The skin of many fruits is a good source of nutrients.
Wash all fruits thoroughly before eating.
THE EGGS
How long does it take for a chicken to lay an egg and on average how many eggs can a chicken lay per year?
A. I share with you that it takes a fully developed hen 26 hours for an egg to fully form. It is capable of laying 250 eggs in a year.
I take this opportunity to tell you that the global chicken egg market industry is worth 248 billion dollars.
THE CHURCH AND CLIMATE CHANGE
How does the Catholic Church in Mexico view the issue of climate change? The truth is that I don't see that they take a public position, at least I don't see anything.
A. The hierarchy of the Catholic Church in Mexico, and many of us, have expressed concern about climate change and see the climate crisis as a moral problem that disproportionately affects the poor and vulnerable.
On this issue, Pope Francis has influenced many Catholics to see climate change as an urgent problem and his encyclical Laudato si' urges Catholics to care for the common home and defend the marginalized.
Recently we have read about a group of “conservative Catholics” who are skeptical or deny the science of climate change. They prefer to focus only on issues like abortion and family.
We can say that the majority of Catholics in Mexico are very involved in movements to demand climate action and protect the environment. They see climate activism as a moral imperative and support policies to reduce pollution and protect natural resources.
