WHO asks China for “stronger collaboration” to determine the origins of COVID-19
The CEO of the World Health Organization (who), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesusmoved the Chinese premier, Li Keqiangthe “need” for a “stronger collaboration” to determine the origins of the COVID-19and that it is “based on science and evidence”.
In a message posted on his official Twitter profile, Tedros thanked Li's support for “strengthen the WHO” and indicated that he spoke with him about reinforcing global vaccination campaigns, to ensure that 70% of the global population receives the serum against him coronavirus.
"Solidarity is key to ensuring access and affordability of vaccines," he added.
Following Saturday's meeting, the Chinese Foreign Ministry released a statement noting that Tedros stated that "WHO adheres to scientific principles to investigate the origin of the virus and opposes the politicization" of that process.
For his part, Li askedunion and cooperation” in the global fight against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and agreed on the “importance” of the accessibility and affordable cost of vaccines to “form an immune barrier”.
According to the Chinese premier, the goal should be "to use scientific and technological means to develop effective medicines that help defeat the new coronavirus, the common enemy of humanity, as soon as possible."
Tedros held another meeting today with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who assured that the sale of more than 2.1 billion doses of anti-covid vaccines to more than 120 countries and international organizations is "the largest emergency humanitarian operation" that China launches since the founding, in 1949, of the People's Republic.
