More than 200 Australians are evacuated due to the conflict in Gaza

The Australian Government has announced the repatriation of dozens of its citizens who were evacuated in Israel, following the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East following the Hamas attacks in Israel on October 7.

"Australia has airlifted 194 people from Tel Aviv to Dubai overnight, including 75 Australians, their families and citizens of partner countries," Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said in a message posted on X ( formerly Twitter).

"222 people are now on their way home from Dubai on an Australian Government assisted departure flight," added the head of Australian diplomacy.
