Video | The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of a Gaza hospital faces a “major catastrophe” | Videos
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza faces the adversities caused by the constant bombings to which the region is subjected. “All the babies here are underweight and need intensive care 24 hours a day, but we lack basic medicines,” laments Dr. Nasser Bulbul, head of the hospital's NICU. Furthermore, he explains that he faces a “major catastrophe” with this shortage of basic life-saving medicines, but also the imminent threat of power outages: “We will lose everyone who needs electricity in five minutes.”
In the images that accompany the news you can see a premature baby who arrived at the hospital after a bomb hit a nearby house. “The mother was taken to the delivery room and she was panicking with the dust and fear on her face,” says the doctor.
