VIDEO: Earthquake in Turkey and Syria leaves more than 1,000 dead and incalculable damage
A 7.8 magnitude earthquake that shook Turkey and Syria at dawn on February 6 it left nearly 1,400 dead and thousands injured, authorities say.

In accordance with The United States Geological Survey registered the 7.8 magnitude earthquake at 1:17 local timebringing down houses and buildings in a vast area of hundreds of kilometers that goes from northern Syria, from cities like Aleppo, to southeastern Turkey, where the largest Turkish city in the region, Diyarbakir, has been affected.
for his part the Turkish emergency service Afad, the earthquake was 7.7 degrees while its epicenter was recorded in Pazarcik in the province of Kahramanmaras, although the Kandilli seismic observatory locates it in Sofalici, in the neighboring province of Gaziantep, about 40 kilometers further south.
Gaziantep's historic Roman castle, which had stood for more than 1,700 years and has been leveled by the quake.
The low temperatures and the snow in the area affected by the earthquake are complicating the rescue work in mountainous territories that are difficult to access.
Apart from Turkey and Syria, the powerful quake was also felt in countries like Lebanon, Israel and Georgia.
