Rodríguez was received by the former Brazilian president, Dilma Rousseff, who holds the position of president of this financial institution from March 2023 to 2025, as well as by the main advisor for Financial Affairs, Alejandro Texeira.

On behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, we reiterate the commitment of the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela to contribute to the strengthening of South-South cooperation. We believe in the construction of a new global financial architecture, Rodríguez said in his meeting with Rousseff.

The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen and promote economic cooperation for development between the Latin American nation and said integration entity.

Likewise, the exchange with the former Brazilian president allowed us to address topics of interest that aim to consolidate the different strategic and commercial areas.

With the executive vice president, the Venezuelan ambassador Giuseppe Yofredda, the president of Pdvsa (Petróleos de Venezuela), Pedro Tellechea, and Nicolás Maduro Guerra, deputy of the National Assembly (AN), attended.

The Brics' New Development Bank (NBD) was created in 2014, when Dilma Rousseff was president of Brazil. This is intended to finance infrastructure and sustainable development projects in the countries that make up the group and other emerging economies.

This visit to the NDB headquarters is part of the working tour that the executive vice president is making through the Asian country, where she hopes to meet with Chinese executives and authorities.
