Venezuela and Iran agreed to strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation and exchanges between the two countries, mainly in the area of hydrocarbons, according to an agreement signed on Tuesday in Doha, Qatar, between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Félix Plasencia, and the Minister of Petroleum of Venezuela. The signing took place after a meeting between the Venezuelan foreign minister and the president of Iran, Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, in the city of Doha, on the occasion of the celebration this Tuesday of the VI Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Forum of Exporting Countries of Gas (GECF).
The agreement signed between Tehran and Caracas contemplates the transfer of technology and cooperation in the field of oil and gas between the two countries, who reached an understanding to “continue to counteract the illegal and arbitrary unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States against our peoples. Iran and Venezuela are advancing in the consolidation of their strategic association,” explained Plascencia.

According to the note from the Foreign Ministry, during the meeting, the Iranian president conveyed to Minister Plasencia what he called a fraternal greeting to the people of Venezuela and his counterpart, President Nicolás Maduro Moros.
According to information from the Foreign Ministry, President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi highlighted the example of Venezuela at the meeting, “which has overcome sanctions despite intense pressure, but with the support of the people through resistance, today we see that the situation in this country is improving.
Similarly, it transpired that Iran plans to expand cooperation and interaction with Venezuela in various fields and elaborated in that sense, “we are ready to be with the people of Venezuela in changing the economic situation.”
Raisí also pointed out that “the countries of the Latin American region are a great example of the certainty of the victory of the resistance of nations against the hegemony of world powers,” said the Iranian head of state.
