US admits ‘limitations’ to prosecute war crimes in Ukraine

USA.- The United States recognized this Wednesday “limitations” to prosecute the alleged war crimes perpetrated by Russian forces in Ukraine since federal legislation only allows prosecuting cases with Americans involved.

This was stated before the Senate Judiciary Committee by the jurist Eli Rosenbaum, who was commissioned by the US Department of Justice last June to lead a team to put those responsible for crimes in Ukraine on the bench.

Rosenbaum, who has dedicated his career to prosecuting Nazi criminals, explained that US war crimes law “does not cover the vast majority” of cases, since it only applies when the victim or perpetrator is a US national.
