The White House warned on Wednesday that Russia could expand its attacks on Ukrainian grain facilities to include attacks against civilian shipping in the Black Sea.

Adam Hodge, a spokesman for the White House National Security Council, said that US officials have information indicating that Russia placed more sea mines on the approaches to Ukrainian ports.

"We believe that this is a coordinated effort to justify any attacks on civilian ships in the Black Sea and to blame Ukraine for these attacks."

“In addition to this coordinated effort in the Black Sea, we have already observed that Russia targeted Ukrainian grain export ports in Odessa with missiles and drones on July 18 and 19, resulting in the destruction of agricultural infrastructure and 60 thousand tons of grain”.

Ukraine accused Russia on Wednesday of damaging grain export infrastructure in about "hellish" night attacks focused on two of its Black Sea ports, and vowed not to be intimidated and to continue working so that grain exports continue to flow from them.

military stance

The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday that, after the suspension of the grain deal, all foreign ships bound for Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea will be considered as vessels transporting military merchandise.

In addition, Russia will consider as countries involved in the war on the Ukrainian side the countries whose flags are on the Black Sea ships. The measure comes into force as of this midnight, as detailed by the Russian military portfolio.

Likewise, the Russian authorities have informed that the international waters of the eastern sector of the Black Sea will be considered from now on as "temporarily dangerous" for navigationaccording to information collected by the TASS news agency.
