Zelensky wants the NATO-Ukraine Council to meet to discuss the issue of grain in the Black Sea

The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, has asked the NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, to convene a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council to discuss security in the Black Sea, in particular the operation of a corridor for exports of Ukrainian grain, according to what the Ukrainian president himself recounted in his late-night video this Saturday.

Zelensky has claimed that he had asked NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during a phone call to convene the council, created at this month's NATO summit.

"In our cooperation, we have moved to a new, more advanced level, the NATO-Ukraine Council, and this mechanism can have an impact," Zelensky said of the conversation, held by phone.

“I have proposed to Jens that the Council be convened without delay for the relevant consultations on the crisis. The meeting will take place in the next few days. We can overcome the security crisis in the Black Sea."

At the moment, NATO has not indicated whether they have accepted the Ukrainian president's proposal. (Reuters)
