Levi Bellfield, the man who killed several women at the beginning of the year two thousand and is serving two life sentences, asked the prison director for permission to carry out his wedding.
The Sun newspaper was the first to publish the news of the serial killer’s marriage bond and an alleged woman who constantly visits him in prison, according to witnesses. The 53-year-old man knelt in front of her and proposed to be his wife, as the custodians reported.
The official spokesman for the Prime Minister of England reacted to this and told Sky News that Boris Johnson is “disgusted and dismayed”, with the request of Levi Bellfieldas his thoughts are with the families of the women he murdered.
Justice Minister Victoria Atkins revealed that they are reviewing the criminal’s request to hold a wedding inside the prison where he is serving his sentence.
“it’s absolutely awful. I’ve ordered an immediate review of this. Just to reassure people, I understand that an application has been submitted that has not yet been decided and she certainly has not been married yet,” Minister Atkins said.
The spokesman said that this decision is ultimately made by the prison managers. “I think everyone, including the prime minister are upset by some of the reports we have seen“.
Former Attorney General Robert Buckland also does not agree with the marriage of Bellfield because it is not fair that he can enjoy a wedding, when some of the women he killed were very young and never knew the meaning of a marriage.
Levi Bellfield was sentenced for the murder of a 19-year-old girl in 2003, for the death of another woman in 2004the attempted murder of another woman in the same year and for the kidnapping and murder of a 13-year-old student.
The serial killer is in prison at HMP Frankland in County Durham.
