UEFA excludes Russia from draw for Euro Germany 2024 | Tweet


UEFA reported on Tuesday that the Russian Football Federation will not be able to participate in Euro 2024 qualifying drawso they will be excluded from the continental tournament to be played in Germany.

β€œAll Russian national teams are currently suspended after the decision of UEFA Executive Committee of February 28, 2022, which was also confirmed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on July 15, 2022. Therefore, Russia is not included in the qualifying draw for the UEFA European Championship 2022-24β€³, explained the body this Tuesday in Hvar (Croatia).

The UEFA Executive Committee approved the procedure for the next European qualifying draw, which will take place on pnext October 9 in the German city of Frankfurt. Total 53 national associations participate in the draw that will distribute the participants in the 10 groups, seven groups of five selections and three groups of six selections.

The participating teams will be divided into the seeding pots, according to the general classification of the UEFA Nations League 2022/23and they will occupy the seven pots that there are.

The ten group winners and the ten seconds will qualify for the final phase. Meanwhile, the three remaining places will be decided through the ‘play-offs’ to be played in March 2024. The classification will not count host Germany, which automatically passes to the final phase and, therefore, does not participate in the draw.
