Two people were killed, seven injured and two others are still missing after mudslides hit a village in Xiahe county, in northwest China's Gansu province, China Central Television reported.

The disaster occurred in Zhangzigou Village of Xiahe County at around 11:34 p.m. Monday, according to the provincial emergency management department.
At least 336 people from 76 households have been taken to shelters, the Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture Emergency Office said on Tuesday.

A series of landslides, avalanches and rock falls in recent weeks has prompted government officials to launch emergency response measures and mobilize local departments to combat such disasters.
Firefighters covered in gray mud and surrounded by torrential waters rescued people trapped in images on social media from Gansu province, the site of Monday's landslide.
Rescuers were still searching Tuesday for the two missing people.
