Threads social network exceeds 100 million downloads in less than 5 days

Meta's new microblogging social network, Threads, exceeded 100 million users in less than 5 days on the marketaccording to data from Quiver Quantitative, making Twitter's competitor the fastest-growing platform in history.
Meta (parent of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger) launched its new social network in 100 countries -but none of the European Union- last Wednesday night.
On Friday, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the app had surpassed 70 million subscriptions, saying this milestone far exceeded his expectations.
Threads surpassed the ChatGPT recordas the OpenAI chatbot had reached the 100 million mark in 2 months.
One of the reasons for the rapid success of this app is its easy registration process using an Instagram account.
According to Sensor Tower data, Threads is currently the most downloaded free app in the US. both in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
At first glance, Threads looks like a copy of Twitter where there are posts -photos, videos of up to 5 minutes and post texts of up to 500 characters- and you can interact with them in three ways: giving them a "like", reposting them and commenting.
Like on Twitter, you can enable notifications to be alerted when a user postsbut you can't create lists with users.
Neither hashtag or tags can be used, so there are no trending topics or trends.
However, one of the advantages of Threads - which is still ad-free - is that there will be no limit to the number of posts users can see on Threads, one of the key differentiators between the two apps after last weekend's This week Musk will announce (and later withdraw) limits on the reading of tweets to avoid "extreme levels of data extraction and manipulation of the system."
