This Saturday cold and frosty atmosphere is expected in areas of the northeast, north and center of Mexico

During this Saturday, a cold to very cold environment is expected in the morning in the high parts of the northeast, north and center of Mexico, as well as frigid environment in mountainous areas of Chihuahua and Durango. Also, it is anticipated frost in Baja California, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Nuevo León, Puebla, Sonora, Tlaxcala and Veracruz.

Regarding temperatures, minimum values ​​of -10 to -5 degrees Celsius are forecast in mountainous areas of Chihuahua and Durango; from -5 to 0 degrees Celsius in the mountains of Baja California, Coahuila and Sonora, and from 0 to 5 degrees Celsius in high places in the State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Puebla, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala , Veracruz and Zacatecas.

The National Meteorological Service (SMN), of the National Water Commission (CONAGUA), recommends that the population avoid prolonged exposure to cold environments, sudden changes in temperature and wear warm clothing as well, pay special attention to children, people of the elderly and sick, as well as attend to the indications of Civil Protection of your locality.

At the same time, it is predicted heavy punctual rains in areas of Chiapas, eastern Oaxaca, Tabasco and southern Veracruz; intervals of showers in areas of Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacán and Puebla, as well as isolated rains in places of Campeche, Coahuila, Colima, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Nuevo León Querétaro, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas and Yucatán. The rains in the west, center and south of the country, as well as those in the Yucatan Peninsula could be accompanied by electric shocks.

North component winds are expected with gusts of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour in the Isthmus and Gulf of Tehuantepec, and 50 to 60 km/h on the coasts of Tamaulipas and Veracruz in the morning. There will also be wind with gusts of 50 to 60 km/h in Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Durango, Sonora, the Sinaloa coast and the Gulf of California. The meteorological conditions described above will be caused by front number 31, which will maintain stationary characteristics over the east of the Mexican territory; the mass of cold air associated with the front, a low pressure channel over the southeast of the national territory and a second low pressure channel in the interior of the country, the subtropical jet stream, as well as the entry of moisture from the Pacific Ocean, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico.

During the afternoon, the maximum temperatures will range between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius in areas of Campeche, Chiapas, Colima, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacán, Morelos, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Sinaloa and Yucatán, and between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius in sites in the State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, Veracruz and southwestern Puebla.
