They secure in BC boat with fishing product in closed season


The Secretariat of the Navy-Navy of Mexico, through the Second Naval Region, reported that naval elements assigned to this Naval Command, in coordination with Federal Fisheries Officers of the National Commission for Aquaculture and Fisheries (Conapesca), secured a smaller vessel and retained fishery product that is closed, in the vicinity of Ejido Eréndira, Baja California.

This action was carried out during an inspection and surveillance tour, in which naval personnel and Conapesca personnel saw two people maneuvering to dry out their vessel, for which they proceeded to carry out inspection and verification work, with the result of finding approximately 33 kilograms of ray fin inside the ship’s hold, which is in the closed season from May 1 to July 31, as established by the Official Mexican Standard NOM-029 for sharks and rays and that Its purpose is to contribute to the protection and conservation of these species.

Due to the foregoing, the two people were arrested and the vessel and the marine product were seized. Subsequently, they were placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office in Ensenada.

The Secretariat of the Navy-Navy of Mexico invites men and women who carry out fishing or biological research activities on flora and fauna, to report any irregularity to guarantee the development and sustainable use of national maritime resources.
