The entity indicated, through an official statement, that it “rescued and identified at the Las Choapas toll booth, Veracruz, 178 foreign migrants on a private bus, of which 111 were part of 43 family units originating from Guatemala and Honduras. ”.

The data confirms that six unaccompanied Guatemalan minors were in the vehicle, as well as 50 single adult women and men from Guatemala, nine from Ecuador, one from the Dominican Republic and one from El Salvador.

“When they were transferred to an immigration headquarters of the entity, six unaccompanied minors were identified, as well as three family groups (three adults and three minors) from Honduras and 40 family groups (105 adults with girls and boys) from Guatemala, who will remain under the tutelage and care of the local System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family,” confirmed the INM.

The Mexican entity noted that in an inter-institutional action, the truck driver was stopped and, when conducting a search, the passengers said they were foreigners and did not carry immigration documents.

Migrants have arrived in Mexico from practically all regions of the world, mostly from Central and South America. In 2022, there were more than 2.76 million undocumented migrants intercepted by the United States at the border.

The US Government, after the end of Title 42, applies Title 8, which aggravates the sanctions for those people who cross the border from their migrant status.
