As has been customary for more than 15 years, the list is headed by the captain of world champion Argentina Lionel Messi.

The Albiceleste star will have as great opponents Kylian Mbappé, world runner-up and figure of France and the French Paris Saint Germain; and Erling Haaland, champion of the European Champions Cup, of the English League, the cup of that league and top scorer of the season.

Among the world champions, the nominations of Julián Álvarez, Emiliano Martínez and Lautaro Martínez also stand out.

On the other hand, the list of the global elite continues with players of the stature of Ilkay Gündogan, Rodrigo, Kevin de Bruyne and Rubén Días, treble champions like Haaland and figures from Manchester City and Germany, Spain, Belgium and Portugal, respectively.

In addition to Mbappé, the world runners-up include Atlético de Madrid's Antoine Griezzman and Paris Saint Germain striker Randall Kolo Muani.

Likewise, among those chosen are Nicolo Barella, star of Inter Milan, runner-up in the Champions Cup; the pearl of Real Madrid, Jude Bellingham; the former captain of the Spanish team Karim Benzema and another of its legends, the Croatian Luka Modric.

From the Italian Napoli, surprising champion of the local league, there are their scorer Victor Oshimen, the Georgian genius Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and who was their mainstay in defense, and the current German Bayern player, Kim Min-Jae.

The names of two of the most effective scorers in the world also stand out, Robert Lewandowski of Barcelona and Harry Kane, former Tottenham Hotspur player (now of Bayern), both top scorers in their respective leagues.

He is followed by three of the world's best young talents Josko Gvardiol, Jamal Musiala and Martin Ødegaard

This selection is rounded out by two of the most outstanding goalkeepers of last season: Yassine Bounou, key in Sevilla's UEFA Europa League winner, and André Onana, goalkeeper for Inter Milan, finalist in the Champions Cup.

In addition to the men's Ballon d'Or, France Football reported the 10 candidates for the Kopa award as best young player of the year; the 10 nominees for the Yachine award for the best goalkeeper; and announced the 30 nominees for the Ballon d'Or in women's football.

All these awards will be presented on Monday, October 30 in a ceremony that will be held at the Châtelet Theater in Paris, France.
