Fire crews from Peru brought a forest fire that broke out near the Inca citadel of Machu Picchualthough the brigade members remained alert on Friday for a possible outbreak since the winds that could revive the fire, authorities said.

The fire, which spread to an area more than half the size of Vatican City, had started on Tuesday after farmers in the area they burned their crop residuesa previous activity to restart the crops, according to officials of the regional government of Cusco.
