The national registrar, Alexander Vega Rocha, together with the ministers of the Interior, Luis Fernando Velasco, and of Defense, Iván Velázquez, headed the session of the Public Order Subcommittee for the aforementioned elections and prioritized 143 municipalities that are at risk due to the violence.

“After preparing the fourth version of the electoral risk map for October 29, it was determined to carry out this prioritization in conjunction with the public force. These municipalities are located in Nariño, Cauca, Valle, Chocó, Meta, Córdoba and Norte de Santander, among others and present some degree of risk in terms of public order or guarantees of free voting for citizens,” explained Vega Rocha.

During the session of the Public Order Subcommittee for the elections, he assured that intervention by the authority is necessary to avoid incidents during the electoral process.

“The military and police forces are going to deploy greater force, with the aim of guaranteeing public order,” the official said.
