They celebrate 900 pollinator gardens in CDMX, why?
The Mexico City (CDMX) already has 900 pollinator gardens created and cared for mainly by women and this was celebrated this Saturday, October 21, by the Ministry of the Environment (Sedema) of the capital.
The dependence held the Fifth Meeting of Women Pollinators where people who have created gardens with the intention that pollinating animals do not become extinct were recognized.
Pollinator gardens have been created on private properties, but also in public spaces such as squares, schools, Pillars and public roads.
Pollinators in CDMX, why are they important?
Claudia Hernández, director of Environmental Policies and Culture, He said that through the Gardens for Life program they have trained 900 women and men in environmental gardening.
To the extent that pollinators do not find plants where they can reproduce, where they can feed, take shelter and so on, they die and we already know that 70 percent of the food we consume depends on pollinators," he said.
As part of the celebration, an environmental fair was organized where the importance of pollinating animals such as bees, butterflies, birds, bats and other insects and rodents.
