There is no internal division between radicals and moderates in Morena

He Head of Government, Martí Batresruled out that in the internal process of Morena in Mexico City there is a division “between radicals of the left – who would be with Clara Brugada – and moderates” with Omar García Harfuchin addition to denying that there is a risk of an internal rupture.

“There is no such division” between moderates and radicals. “There are processes where several personalities participate, but not only in Mexico City, but throughout the country,” said the capital president.

However, Batres insisted that it is not up to his government to lead the internal process by which the coordinator of the Transformation Defense Committees in the country's capital will be defined.

Likewise, the head of Government also ruled out a possible break with the Green Party in Mexico City, or with the other parties allied to Morena.

Batres pointed out that it is the national leaders of the parties who carry out the process.

This, in response to the warning made by the local Green deputy, Jesús Sesma, who made it clear that, If García Harfuch is not chosen and if the election of a candidate based on gender criteria is chosen, Instead of backing the winner of the polls, the PVEM could reconsider your support for Morena in the capital in 2024.

“We respect the process and it is up to the leaders of our movement" to determine the selection process, the capital president reiterated.

Batres stressed that it will be the national leadership of Morena that will inform of the decision to postpone the results of the polls.
