Ecuador’s vice presidency reported Thursday that its head, Alfredo Borrero, tested positive for COVID-19, although he has “mild symptoms.”
“The second president received the complete vaccination schedule and has the booster dose,” the vice president’s office detailed in a statement. disclosed via Twitter. “At the moment he is in home isolation and under medical supervision.”
Borrero himself took advantage of the message from his office to express himself, also through a tweet, in which he regretted having been infected despite having followed “all biosafety measures.”
“The pandemic is still among us, let’s take care of ourselves and go to get vaccinated. Thank you for your support!”, Concluded the vice president.
In accordance with data from Johns Hopkins University, Ecuador has registered 553,201 infections and 33,686 deaths from COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.
