The son of a former San Diego Republican official is singled out for soliciting his affiliation with a white supremacist group
A Marine, the son of a former San Diego County Republican official, is under investigation after a report by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) revealed that he applied to join the white supremacist group Patriot Front.
“(The SPLC report) highlighted an applicant who said he was a member of the Marine Corps in San Diego,” reported activist Andrew Dyer. “Local activists noted that 21-year-old Corporal Victor Krvaric shares the same biographical details (age, titles, and family background) as the anonymous applicant cited in the SPLC report.” The reservist is the son of Tony Krvaric, the former chairman of the county's Republican Party.
San Diego activists affiliated with The Activist Podcast were the first to point to Krvaric as the unidentified person in the SPLC report. In a detailed Twitter thread on Wednesday, the podcast pointed out the similarities between Krvaric and the applicant who appears in the leaked chats as "Interviewee 441515."
According to SPLC, the applicant admitted to believing in anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and advocated ending nearly all non-European immigration to the United States. According to the Union-Tribune, the Marine Corps is investigating whether Krvaric is the person identified by the SPLC.
Patriot Front was founded in the wake of the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, after breaking away from the neo-Nazi group Vanguard America. Its founder, Thomas Rousseau, led members of Vanguard America at the rally. A man pictured wearing a Vanguard America shield, James Fields Jr., drove his car into a crowd of anti-racist protesters, killing one. In 2019, Fields was convicted of murder and federal hate crimes, and sentenced to life in prison. The group denied that Fields was a member.
