The opening will take place at the National Stadium, and will feature the participation of almost 2,000 athletes from 31 countries. The usual parade of delegations will be led by Argentina, an honor paid to it for having been the first country to host the Pan American Games, in 1951, in Buenos Aires.

As announced by the International Olympic Committee, this event will feature 37 athletes who won a gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, and among them such relevant figures as the Cuban sprinter Omara Durand and the Mexican weightlifter Amalia Pérez.

According to local media, the opening ceremony will begin at 8:30 p.m. (Local time) and the concept that will be transmitted on stage will be the cosmos and people, in a representation called “Here and now.”

Among the disciplines in competition are wheelchair basketball, blind football, table tennis, weightlifting, swimming and athletics.

The opening ceremony will be attended by several Chilean artists, including Ana Tijoux, Beto Cuevas, Denise Rosenthal, Flor de Rap, Kay, Movimiento Original and Pablo Chill.
