The president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, arrived this Wednesday at the Quirinale Palace to meet with the Italian president, Sérgio Mattarella on his third trip to Europe by the head of state in this mandate.

Previously, Lula held a conversation with former Prime Minister Massimo D'Alema, and an audience with the General Secretary of the Italian Democratic Party, Elly Schlein.
"A very positive meeting, I am happy to meet President Lula for the first time and to discuss common challenges and global issues, democracy, climate and social justice," Schlein told local media after the meeting.
In the framework of his meeting with his Italian colleague, both leaders spoke about the bilateral relations between both countries.
After his meeting with the pope, the Brazilian president will meet with the Italian prime minister, the far-right Giorgia Meloni, at the Chigi palace, the seat of the Italian Executive.
