The Pentagon has detected a second Chinese balloon after the one located over US territory in recent days. The second device is flying over Latin America and also fulfills surveillance functions, according to a communication to the media from the Department of Defense spokesman, General Patrick Ryder.

“We have seen information about a balloon flying over Latin America. We now consider this to be another Chinese surveillance balloon," the statement said.

The announcement about the second balloon comes just hours after the US government decided to cancel the visit of the Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, to China scheduled for this weekend after considering that the presence of the first device on the country's territory, detected this week, represents a "violation of sovereignty."
