The loose 'lioness' of Berlin turns out to be a wild boar
False alarm. The animal that has been on the loose in south Berlin since early Thursday morning is not a lioness, but a wild boar. This was confirmed this afternoon by the mayor of Kleinmachnow, one of the three towns bordering the German capital that were on alert.
The authorities come to this conclusion after computer analysis of the video they received and where an animal is seen wandering through a wooded area. The animal was originally thought to be a lioness chasing a wild boar, but emergency services now conclude that the animal is simply a wild boar. They argue that it does not have the characteristic long neck of felines and that the shadows of the vegetation could have led to confusion.

Now, the search device will be reduced, although the authorities will remain vigilant. The operation began this Thursday morning and police, hunters and veterinarians have participated in it, aided by helicopters, thermal cameras and drones.
The authorities recall that the ban on leaving home, decreed yesterday Thursday in the southwestern neighborhoods of the German capital and in the neighboring towns of Kleinmachnow, Teltow and Stahnsdorf, is no longer in force.
