The retirement of Jaime Jarrin
On September 28, 2021, the legendary Jaime Jarrín announced that he would retire after season 2022, which represents his 64th season with the team. At 86, the famous broadcaster of Ecuadorian origin has watched and called Dodgers games since 1959, just the second season after the team moved from Brooklyn.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti handed Arrin the keys to the city for the fourth time and also highlighted the example that the legendary broadcaster has been for all generations of Dodgers players and fans.
Jarrin's journey
Jaime Jarrín began broadcasting Dodger games from his native Ecuador at the age of 16, later arriving in the United States in 1955. and it is said that he began to regularly attend the games of the Pacific Coast League, there he was a regular visitor to the extinct Gilmore Field and Wrigley Field in Los Angeles from 1955 to 1957, that is how he learned the game until he became what he is today.
The legendary Ecuadorian broadcaster has broadcast 22 no-hitters, including the perfect games of Sandy Koufax in 1965, Tom Browning in 1988 and Dennis Martinez in 1991.. He has also been a part of 30 World Series games and 30 All Stars Games.
Among his many distinctions stands out a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in September 1998 and he was also included in the Dodgers Ring of Honor in 2018. Without a doubt, Jarrín is living history of the Dodgers and today he lived a more what a well deserved tribute.
