One of them is the Cafe del Reala bistro-pizzeria which is one of the most classic bars in the capital.
This place is located right next to the Lottery Administration in Plaza de Isabel II (Lotería Ópera), or in other words, the place where the young woman in the advertisement buys the Christmas Lottery tenth which he shares with his father. A few meters from Café del Real is one of the capital's trendy restaurants: Papagena, on the sixth floor of the Teatro Real. Overlooking the Royal Palace and Plaza de Oriente, the restaurant pays tribute to Mozart and his work through its menu and cocktails, creating a unique atmosphere in the heart of the city.
The name of the place is inspired by one of the main characters of “The Magic Flute”. This character, known as the bird-man, seeks love and the formation of a family in the play, facing various tests until finally finding his beloved, Papagena, in the final opera duet.
The restaurant's gastronomy is directed by the Catalan chef Ramon Freixa, who offers a menu that mixes traditional dishes with modern and creative touches. Among the specialties are “Strawberry gazpacho with its mimetic ice cream”, “Hake fritters with soft chive aioli and citrus pearls” and “Burrata caprese injected with basil and tomato tartar”, as well as classic dishes and exotic flavors such as the “Curry chicken dumplings with pisto hoisin” and the “Iberian saam with 'live' lettuce, bacon and flame-grilled octopus.” You can read all the details of the restaurant here.
