A police officer from the city of San Antonio, Texas, shot a 17-year-old boy who was eating inside his car in a McDonald’s parking lot.
The incident happened last Sunday. October 2ndaround 10:25 p.m.
In a video released by the San Antonio Police Department, it is observed that the officer, identified as Nicholas Weidner, approaches the red car, which is parked and with its taillights on.
Open the driver’s side door and tells him to get out of the car. Two people are inside the car.
The young man, who has a hamburger in his hand, asks “Why?” while the policeman tries to pull him by the shirt.
Immediately the car goes into reverse, according to police reports, it is not clear if the young man is the one who backs the car or goes in reverse because he took his foot off the brake during the confrontation.
The images show that the policeman wields his weapon and fire six shots at the car the door is still open. The car drives away and the officer continues to fire.
The Police Department reported that Weidner was removed from his post after his factual report was found to be false. He indicated that he was in the place answering another call and that when he saw the car he identified that it was one that had escaped the night before.
He explained that he was hit by the car driven by the 17-year-old and in response he fired.
However, revealing the video captured by his body camerathe authorities verified that this was not true.
The driver reportedly stopped in the street next to the McDonald’s and was taken to University Hospital in critical condition, where he was last reported to be in surgerySAPD chief William McManus said on Monday, October 3.
