Tellez hits two home runs and Brewers beat Rays


Rowdy Tellez homered twice and Milwaukee center fielder Jonathan Davis had a spectacular crimp to lead the Brewers to a 5-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday.

Tellez has five homers and eight RBIs in his last six games.

Tellez hit his 15th homer of the season, a tiebreaking solo shot in the eighth inning off reliever Calvin Faucher (1-2).

His first home run of the game came in the second off starter Jalen Beeks.

Davis stole an extra-base hit from Randy Arozarena in the second inning when he dove for the ball over his shoulder before hitting his head on the fence. He lay there for several minutes holding his back and left the match at the bottom of the third chapter.

Taylor Walls hit a two-run double in the fourth inning that sent Arozarena and Harold Ramirez to the plate to put the Rays ahead 2-1.

Brad Boxberger (2-1) struck out two foes to hang up the scoreless in the seventh inning for the win.

For the Brewers, the Mexican Luis Urías 4-1 with two RBIs and one scored. Willy Adames 5-0. Puerto Rican Victor Caratini 3-0.

For the Rays, the Dominicans Francisco Mejía 4-2; Wander Franco 5-1 with an RBI; Vidal Bruján 2-0 with a run scored. Colombian Harold Ramírez 4-2 with a run scored. The Cubans Arozarena 2-0 with a run scored; Yandy Diaz 4-1. The Mexican Isaac Paredes 2-0.
