Taylor Swift concerts resume in Brazil | Videos | America
This November 20, Taylor Swift's concert, which had been postponed on Saturday, took place in Rio de Janeiro after a fan died during the artist's tour in Brazil. Ana Clara Benevides, a 23-year-old psychology student, began to feel unwell at the beginning of the Show on Friday. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where she died of cardiopulmonary arrest.
Due to Benavides' death, the federal government issued an order to make the availability of water mandatory at future concerts in the country. These days Brazil is experiencing a heat wave that has caused a state of emergency in more than 1,400 cities, a situation aggravated by the effects of El Niño and global warming.
During Swift's concert, which lasted three and a half hours, hundreds of people had to be treated for dehydration and fainting. The company organizing the musical event has been criticized for not allowing the passage of water and blocking certain areas of the stadium that prevented air circulation inside.
