Suspect attacks police – Washington Hispanic


A suspect wanted in connection to a 2021 murder is now facing charges that he attacked two officers who were serving an arrest warrant at his Capitol Heights residence Monday morning. The man was identified as Reginald Hawkins, 47.

He was wanted for the murder of his then-girlfriend, Nakisha McMillian, 45, of Capitol Heights. The suspect and victim were in a relationship and living together.

On the afternoon of Monday the 13th, PGPD officers made an arrest warrant at Hawkins’ residence located on Eastern Avenue. Suddenly, the man came out of the basement with a shotgun.

Two PGPD officers discharged their service weapons but no one was injured.

Now Hawkins faces not only the murder charge but also first and second degree assault charges after he pointed his gun at officers.
