For analysts, these elections usually have greater participation than the rest of the electoral processes that take place in the country. The most recent evidence on this topic results from the comparison of the elections held in 2019 in which participation was 60.5%with those of the elections for the Congress of the Republic in which there was 48% and the second round of the presidential elections of 2022.

This year, a total of 32 governors, 418 deputies for departmental assemblies, 1,102 mayors, 12,072 councilors and 6,513 councilors belonging to local administrative boards will be elected.
